IP for Youth, Innovation for a Better Future

The Maratha Mandal Engineering College organized an event titled “IP for Youth, Innovation for a Better Future“. This event was organized by the IPR Cell of the college, on the Occasion of World IPR Day and Silver Jubilee Celebration of VTU. The resource person and Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Vivek Anand Sagar IP Attorney and Consultant to KSCST, Bangalore. Mr. Vivek Anand explained about the need for IPR in the Engineering domain, how it protects an individual’s ideas and how it encourages individuals & institutes to venture into innovation. He interacted with the students and staff of the college and cleared their doubts about IPR and its process.

Prof. Naveed, HOD, CSE and IPR Cell Coordinator of MMEC, Welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest.

Dr. D.G. Kulkarni, Principal MMEC, spoke about the formation of the IPR cell in the college and its responsibilities. He quoted some examples, which has received patent and how much revenue it generates today. He encouraged the students to participate in research and innovation and assured them that the college will provide all possible support, in terms of infrastructure, Expert mentoring and financial assistance for the patent filing.

Others present during the event were Dr. Suresh Mashyal, Vice Principal , Dr. A.V. Kulkarni HOD Applied Science, Prof. Mani C. HOD E.C.E. , teaching staff of the college and 3rd year students of all the branches.

Finally Prof. Swati Patil proposed the vote of thanks.
